In Germany many Oppostion people also get their Bank accounts closed.
Finally the only Bank they can use is "Bank of China".
Its more or less normal here.
If you are against the gouverment, you Bank and Paypal will be recalled.

Of course, Mr. Farage could not pass up the opportunity to try to turn a business decision into a fake political chase.

The problem is that it has happened to a number of other individuals (and their relatives!), who are entirely innocent of any nefarious financial dealings. Cash is disappearing fast. Everybody needs a bank account.

Following a 2014 European directive, in Spain a law was passed in 2017 establishing the universal right to have a basic bank account that allows you to perform all the usual banking operations.

As in the case of Mr. Farage, surely there is a reason. The banks are not governed by a group of communists (quite the contrary). Has this happened to any ordinary person you know? There are too many conspiracy theories on the web that many people gleefully swallow.

Far-right views and positions pose the biggest threat to German democracy and voters should bear this in mind before casting their ballot for the nationalist, anti-immigrant Alternative für Deutschland (Alternative for Germany, AfD) party.

Thomas Haldenwang, the chief of the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (BfV), made the remark at a news conference on Tuesday as he presented the agency's 2022 annual report.

"[P]arts of the AfD spread hate and agitation against all kinds of minorities in Germany, especially migrants ... We see that parts of the AfD also hold and promote an anti-Semitic attitude," said Haldenwang.

"We see that parts of the AfD are very much influenced by Moscow and continue to spread Russian narratives", particularly with regards to Russia's all-out war in Ukraine, Haldenwang added.

"I think these are all circumstances that German voters should bear in mind when making their decision," he said.

I've picked out 3 other people who were interviewed about their account closure experiences below, It's not clear whether this is a widespread experience, but I have noticed some weird, unjustified demands for proof of identity from some investment companies whom I've been dealing with for decades. Something strange is going on behind the scenes.

If the banks are doing any wrongdoing, there is a regulator: The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). And if the law is inadequate, there is a government that can change it. I'm tired of conspiracy theories.

Apparently its to do with anti-money laundering regulations, and the penalties banks are exposed to. But the lack of transparency and due legal process is being abused. Also, banks often freeze accounts on a whim. Since this has become high-profile we should see some action from Government.
