Treating Animals in a way that they feel good is essential for any kind of farming.
In our grandparents farms, the animal were parts of the family.
In India cows are held "Holy" for that reason, to remind people of that we are all sort of family.
 
If its not done, the animals will get sick and need lots of medications to stay alive.
But even then their meat will be polluted with these medications.
Its a problem for chicken, for fish, for pock anyway and for other animals.

The root of the problem at least in germany are the high taxes and energy prices which does not let the farmers a lot of choices between closing their farm or saving money where they can.
