In "The Real Truth about Greenhouse Gases and Climate Change: Paragraph-by-Paragraph Comments on an Article by Dr. William Happer," Dr. Michael MacCracken, Chief Scientist for Climate Change Programs at the Climate Institute in Washington, DC, takes on the prominent 'skeptic' Princeton physicist and Marshall Institute board chairman with a detailed and illuminating rebuttal.

Being so old, the links are broken, but I have found a site where it is available:

Happer, who is not a climate scientist, rejects the scientific consensus on climate change. In 2018, Donald Trump appointed him to the National Security Council to counter evidence linking carbon dioxide emissions to global warming.[5][6] He resigned from the council in 2019.[7]

Michael Calvin MacCracken (born 1942), has been chief scientist for climate change programs with the Climate Institute in Washington, D.C., since 2002; he was also elected to its board of directors in 2006.
Since 2013, MacCracken has been listed on the Advisory Council of the National Center for Science Education.[1]

Average summer temperature in Germany 1960-2022
Published by Statista Research Department, Jun 23, 2023

In 2022, the average summer temperature in Germany was 19.2 degrees Celsius. This was an increase compared to the year before. While figures fluctuated during the given timeline, there were regular peaks, and in general, temperatures had grown noticeably since the 1960s.

Not beating the heat
German summers are getting hotter, and as desired as warm weather may be after months of winter (which, incidentally, also warms up year after year), this is another confirmation of global warming. Higher summer temperatures have various negative effects on both nature and humans. Recent years in Germany have seen a growing number of hot days with a temperature of at least 30 degrees, with 17.3 recorded in 2022. This was compared to 4.6 such days in 2021. The number of deaths due to heat and sunlight had peaked in 2015.

Rain or shine
All the German states recorded significant increases in sunshine hours in 2022 compared to the previous year. The sunniest states were Saarland, Baden-Württemberg, and Rhineland-Palatinate, with 910, 900, and 880 hours respectively. Meanwhile, summer precipitation in Germany varied greatly during the same timeline as presented in this graph, but 2022 was one of the dryest years yet.

Social media posts compare a German TV program's weather maps from 2017 and 2022 to claim it now uses more vivid colors to exaggerate heat and the effects of climate change. This is misleading; the channel said it adopted a more accessible format that uses color, not just numbers, to reflect daily temperatures.
