@Charles Pegge I'd not believe everything some planless journalist write.
Doing my Compiler-project i clearly see that it will not work without some knowledge and direction from an experienced programer.
If i had your experience in compiler-building my project would already be done.
So what changes is, the programmer of the past gets a new hat.
He is now directing a number of "Chinese or US-Junior programmers" that are simulated by KI.
So you get the Program-Director, but at times you still need to decide the direction and at that points experience is crucial.
Of course trial and error can resolve a lot. But it will take much longer then if you know what needs to come out. The KI is just your helper keeping you away from boring repetitive tasks, if used properly.
If you just believe the story from "no coding skills needed" you may likely also end up with at most mediocre code-quality.
This may change in 3-5 Years. But we are not yet there. When we are there you will recognize it because the used programming languages will change completely and get unreadable for humans.
They will just be optimized for AI's then.
