Ethics was originally intended as a religion-neutral substitute for Christian values, but it has never worked that way. Ethics has always been misused by those in power to sanctify their intentions. The same is happening here. For instance, during the COVID-19 pandemic, we had an so-called ethics commission that served no purpose other than to whitewash un-Christian and, frankly, unethical actions. Ethics can be safely ignored; it simply doesn't work. We need to return to our Christian values and, in other countries, to the foundational values of their respective religions. Only values genuinely rooted in religion are somewhat secure against corruption.
